  • Resource Management Review

I found Rob’s insights so valuable, I shared them with my Accounting leadership as we are standing up an RMO.

Leaner, faster, smarter, fewer people, fewer layers and more modular teams: these insights are profoundly impactful for resource management.

  • I think the podcast is great and provides a lot of important information. I just wish the one host didn't always sound like he's recording in his bathroom. The echo and poor sound quality makes it hard to listen to some times.

You'd think since they've made 300 episodes they would have figured it out by now.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

AI Reality in Firms: Randy Johnston| K2 Enterprises
Q: Where is AI creating the greatest internal tension in accounting firms?
The primary tension is between tech-forward users of AI and those lagging behind; productivity gains are most notable when AI is used correctly, but concerns about accuracy and work quality persist, requiring human oversight to ensure reliable results.
AI Reality in Firms: Randy Johnston| K2 Enterprises
Q: What leadership decisions will matter most in the next few years regarding AI?
Leaders must establish a strategic vision that prioritizes how AI will serve clients, teams, and the firm; decide service delivery priorities, balance client-centric and team-centric considerations, and ensure that AI investments translate into clear, long-term outcomes rather than simply chasing new technology for its own sake.
AI Reality in Firms: Randy Johnston| K2 Enterprises
Q: What are accounting firms still getting wrong about AI?
The key missteps are over-trusting AI to solve problems without human review and the practice of putting too much confidential client information into AI engines, which risks data privacy and accuracy issues, especially given that AI can hallucinate and provide incorrect results.
AI Reality in Firms: Randy Johnston| K2 Enterprises
Q: Where is AI genuinely reshaping strategic direction for accounting firms?
AI is reshaping strategy mainly through new workflows and AI-enabled agents within core platforms, changing day-to-day tasks across tax, audit, and client accounting services, with emphasis on how these tools affect productivity and service delivery rather than isolated features.
AI Reality in Firms: Chelsea Summers|IPA
Q: By 2027, what will separate leading firms from the rest in AI?
An AI-fluent workforce built through deliberate training and workflow refinement, not merely tool adoption, will differentiate leading firms.
