Nitish Agarwal, CEO and CIO, Orion Capital Asia, "Harnessing Double Digit Returns from Lower Risk Private Credit in Asia"
Q: Can you share a tangible example of a China-focused and an India-focused deal to illustrate your approach?
One China deal involved Blackstone-owned manufacturing packaging for cosmetics, where we provided a private‑credit solution of about $82 million to wrap up a bank-led deal quickly, with a blended all-in around 5x and 13% pricing. An India deal involved a local sponsor acquiring a listed consumer company; we provided Singapore-level financing with a first-port enforcement under Singapore law, tight EBITDA covenants, and a 12% all-in US-dollar yield to support the buyout.
Nitish Agarwal, CEO and CIO, Orion Capital Asia, "Harnessing Double Digit Returns from Lower Risk Private Credit in Asia"
Q: How important is sponsorOrigination and co-investment to your fund model, and how do you handle fees for LPs?
Origination-led sourcing allows us to offer co-investment opportunities to LPs, which helps reduce overall fees for them and aligns interests. Because we source deals directly, there is no double-dip fee, and LPs can participate in sizeable co-investments through our platforms, contributing to stronger net returns.
