  • I came for the Rare Exports…

…and stayed for the 1973 part 1 episode and many more. 2 horror movies a day—my kind of dude! Keep it up, thx for being bold, talented and motivated enough to give us this super-thoughtful show.

Update: Jan ‘26: Many excellent recommendations on what to watch (Man Who Fell from Earth) and what not to (Whatever Happened to Baby Jane).

  • Slash the time away with this gem of a podcast

I initially found the podcast as a fan of Ohmms - but since then I’ve been hooked.

Not all years are ‘stella’ for horror, but the gems are always found.

The podcast is hosted from a place of love and passion for the genre and it shows through each episode

  • A treasure trove for horror film freaks!

Paul is a fun, dynamic, and conversational host who manages to balance his memories and emotional connections to horror films with that of his guests, while also throwing in interesting facts and trivia, which makes for a great listen - and a different one compared to most more fact-scrolling and pretentious films podcasts. He also isn’t afraid to take on tough subject matter and he examines all kinds of takes on some of the most controversial horror films. I particularly enjoy his interviews wi... more

  • Blood and death made cosy

This is a great show. Relaxed, informative, genial & funny.

The host seems like a genuinely lovely guy. Awful taste in music…but passion is infectious, so it’s tolerable. And as I said…seems like lovely guy!

    Big recommend.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Vincent Price (Part 1)
Q: What drew you to Vincent Price as a central figure for this episode?
The host explains that Price represents a cornerstone of mid-century horror, with a prolific career that spans horror and non-horror titles, making him a rich subject for a lengthy multi-episode chart-focused exploration.
Silence of the Lambs (1991) w/ Pictish Trail
Q: And now I want to just talk a little bit about Lifeslime, if I can, and is there a concept behind it?
Lifeslime centers on a personal narrative of change and resilience. Lynch explains that the slime imagery and the serum metaphor reflect how we are biologically connected and mortality is something we process together, turning a difficult life phase into something creatively productive and emotionally cathartic.
The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927) w/ Graham Reynolds
Q: Is Hitchcock someone you've gone into deeply beyond just the surface, and how do composers like Bernard Herrmann influence your listening and scoring approach?
Yes, Hitchcock is a major influence, and Bernard Herrmann's collaboration with Hitchcock shows how music can be a central, character-like force in cinema; I try to study those collaborations to inform how I score films to give viewers a doorway into the film's mood and era, while keeping a 21st-century sensibility.
The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog (1927) w/ Graham Reynolds
Q: With regards to your history in horror movies, has it ever been something that you sided with?
I have always found horror appealing and in horror the music can push forward more than in other genres; I enjoy creating dramatic, sometimes dissonant scores that still serve the film and I'm open to doing more horror projects.
Dead Man (1995) w/ Mika Miko
Q: How do you relate the film to your experiences in music on tour?
The talks about touring life, intense shows, and the road feel echoed in the film's road Western vibe; it was fun to connect the visuals to real-world experiences from touring and the idea of art meeting life on the road.
