Phil has been able to capture the audience both ones who have travelled Indonesia and those contemplating travelling to the region. He is a true linguist with a talent for drawing the listener in whilst applying his passion for all things surfing. A carefully constructed series to date, with hopefully more to follow.
I love the stories, the voice, the vibe. I found it to be a healthy and engaging mix of surfing lore, common sense and a specific kind of spirituality born in conspiracy and honed by oceans of truth.
Phil’s story telling is spiritual, creative, personal and sensitive to the beautiful Indonesian culture. He delivers a thoughtful heartfelt narrative which immerses the listener in the place while entertaining and delivering understanding. His humility let’s the characters of his stories shine bright. Looking forward to many new episodes in the Indonesian “off season”.
I’m not a surfer, but found this pod cast fascinating. Being a kiwi it’s interesting to hear about Indonesian beliefs. Highly recommended
I so much appreciate these stories and insights during a period of restricted travel. For man with a young family living on a western Island in Canada. The idea of surf in the future outside my 5mm wetsuits keeps the planning future trips alive. Thank you.
