Ryan knows the nations district landscape and their foibles, providing background context and statistics that I wouldn’t hear elsewhere. He is fair, funny ,self deprecating and a great cook! If he mentions a good recipe be prepared to take notes.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

It's a Numbers Game: The Numbers Behind Texas, Trump’s Latino Support & the AI Battle Ahead
Q: Why not require single-page, one-issue bills to simplify legislation and accountability?
The host argues that while single-page bills would help clarity, the reality of Congress's inability to pass comprehensive legislation (due to filibusters and political gridlock) means many major programs end up buried in large, multi-topic defense or spending bills; he supports more straightforward debates when possible but acknowledges practical constraints.
It's a Numbers Game: The Numbers Behind Texas, Trump’s Latino Support & the AI Battle Ahead
Q: What are your thoughts on the AI character Amelia and its influence in UK elections and protests?
Amelia is seen as a political messaging tool created by both sides; the host believes she is more of a nuisance to liberals than a major electoral force, noting broader UK political instability and energy/crime concerns as the real drivers of public opinion.
It's a Numbers Game: The Numbers Behind Texas, Trump’s Latino Support & the AI Battle Ahead
Q: Hi Ryan, if Houston is going to run on the trans issue, is he going to lose?
The host suggests the trans issue is on the back burner compared to economic concerns, arguing that Democrats have overplayed or underplayed certain issues and that immigration and the economy are likely to be more decisive in swing states like Ohio; the specific interpretation is that trans messaging may be less effective than issues with broader economic impact.
It's a Numbers Game: The Numbers Behind Trump's New GOP: Sen. Jim Banks on Working-Class Voters, Election Integrity & China
Q: Would adding more Supreme Court justices require a simple majority or a supermajority?
A simple majority is sufficient to change the size of the Supreme Court; there is no constitutional requirement for a supermajority, which makes the prospect politically more feasible despite opposition.
It's a Numbers Game: The Numbers Behind Immigration, Billion-Dollar Startups, & Ken Paxton's Big Win
Q: Why isn't self-deportation incentivized more to encourage voluntary departure?
The host explains that incentives exist (e.g., a $72,000 figure cited for self-deportation participation), but the overall impact is small relative to the immigrant population, and policy decisions have to balance perceptions of rewarding illegal behavior with practical cost savings.
