民國79年由一群自閉症的家長發起台北市自閉症家長協會，協助自閉星兒們能夠有更多的關注與照顧。透過協會力量讓更多自閉星兒能有一技之長，逐步更靠近社會多一些，小貝殼工作坊就此誕生。小貝殼工作坊歷經20多年的淬煉，跟著這一群自閉星兒一起發展前進，透過他們的雙手及專注力，透過18-20道程序所完成的「小貝殼手工肥皂」都是這些自閉星兒的希望跟純粹。
