  • I don’t like the tuna here

I’m a big F&F fan. It’s my religion. So while I love the idea of this, there were some inaccuracies in the first episode that made it impossible for me to finish. But. I do love any podcast that is dedicated to my favorite movie franchise.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

F9 (Lap 16)
Q: How do you feel about the legal/ethical implications of the agency as the next big bad, and could that shift work in Eleven or Forever?
The agency as the antagonist could work if they pull back from a full villain reveal and instead present a morally gray, bureaucratic threat that challenges the family's improvisational strengths without erasing their personal stakes.
F9 (Lap 16)
Q: Garrett, where do you place F9 in your updated ranking compared to the other films?
F9 sits just behind Fate of the Furious in my ranking, with its big, entertaining set pieces and emotional stakes giving it a strong middle-ground position despite some narrative weaknesses.
Fast & Furious 6 (Lap 16)
Q: How do you interpret the way the film seeds future installments and its forward-looking approach to the franchise?
The episode notes that the movie plants seeds for later entries, particularly by introducing characters like Deckard Shaw and teasing future storylines, while still acknowledging that the core ensemble remains essential to the series' identity. It suggests a deliberate balance between closure and setup for what comes next.
Fast & Furious 6 (Lap 16)
Q: Alicia, what do you think makes Fast & Furious 6 your favorite, and is there a specific scene or moment that lives in your memory?
A couple of things: Six merges the classic outlaw vibe with the franchise's move toward globe-trotting espionage, making it feel like the perfect synthesis of the series so far. Alicia also highlights Joe Tasslim and the film's emphasis on analog problem-solving, preferring the tactile, human-centered creativity over high-tech MacGuffins.
Stagecoach (1939)
Q: How did Stagecoach influence later action and heist scenes in cinema?
The guests discuss Stagecoach as a template for ensemble-studio chase sequences and the way its character-driven setup set the stage for caring about characters during high-stakes action, a template later echoed in Fast & Furious franchise heists.
