  • I'm quite disappointed that 18Forty chose to elevate a voice who called human beings she disagreed with "worthless biotrash".

This podcast brings discussion. I do not agree always with the veiwpoints in this podcast. There are times that I do not agree at all. Matter of a fact I often stay away from modernity, Respecting from a distance. This is why I listen. Not often are there people who present controversial ideas with the respect of other people and their perspectives. A person really wants to feel safe to open up. A person needs to hear what they think and needs to react to contrary ideas in a kosher way. BH

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Alana Newhouse: Why is the Whole World Fighting About Zionism? [Israel & Diaspora II 3/4]
Q: Would you distill the underlying thesis of your article Zionism for Everyone?
The premise is that we are living in a time of massive flux driven by technology, and the world is fixated on Zionism not as political stance but as a lens to understand how to maintain culture, citizenship, and a sense of national life within a global context.
Michael Eisenberg: Iran, USA, Israel: What Comes Next [Israel & Diaspora II 1/4]
Q: Where do you think the project for American Jewry and Israel should focus after a period of upheaval?
We need to build a durable, voluntary model of Jewish life that can thrive without coercion, while strengthening ties between American Jewry and Israel through mutual responsibility and shared goals.
David & Sydney Magerman: When a Child Makes Aliyah [Divergence VI 3/4]
Q: What motivated Sydney to consider making aliyah during her gap year?
Sydney describes a felt pull toward Israel, the sense of safety and belonging upon arrival, and the long-term vision of building a life there that outweighed continuing in the diaspora, supported by her family's evolving outlook.
Shaanan Gelman & His Son: When a Child Becomes Addicted [Divergence VI 2/4]
Q: When did you realize that the planned path for Ziggy wasn't working and that addiction had to be addressed beyond the Yeshiva track?
Both parents describe recognizing the escalating patterns and the need for external help, with rehab and therapy becoming the turning point after repeated attempts to manage the situation within the existing environment.
Elisheva Carlebach & Debra Kaplan: The Unknown History of Women in Jewish Life [American Yeshiva World 1/3]
Q: What is your hope for readers of the book?
We aim for the book to be accessible and to inspire recognition of the importance of women's contributions to Jewish history.
