今天要聊的是格雷格·伊根写于 1990 年的短篇小说《金库保管箱》。故事名字一听就觉得没有啥科幻色彩：没有外星文明，没有世界末日，没有星际移民，也没有机器人。据说这篇小说跟他的《谎言空间中的不稳定轨道》并称为伊根最不科幻的俩故事，但是因为我很喜欢，我想讲给你听。
这是一个由一千个身体承载起一个孤魂的故事，是一个人如何拼拼凑凑地生长出“自我”的故事。

今天的故事是特德·姜的《呼吸》，是一位很喜欢这位作者的听友推荐给我的。小说的名字我一直以为“呼吸”的英文名是 breathe，但是去查了一下发现是 exhalation，意思是呼气、吐气。也就是说，中文翻译成“呼吸”其实是与原题目有所出入的。那么，为什么作者要强调呼气，而没有吸气呢？原来这个题目本身就是一处伏笔。
