糖尿病是饮食相关的慢性疾病中非常受大众关注的，目前全球范围来看，十位成年人中就有一位是患有糖尿病，因而不少注册营养师对糖尿病的干预和护理有兴趣，那考取「糖尿病护理与教育专家」（certified diabetes care and education specialist，CDCES）自然成为了专攻糖尿病方向营养师的职业发展基石。
