一件事情的成就，非一朝一夕可及，不妨以五年、十年、二十年的時間來看一件事。生命之路很長，得穩紮穩打，務實實際。做事要踏實實際，做人則要珍惜感謝，但也不要太眷戀，因為終須一別。
珍惜眼前的緣分，要懂得珍惜與身邊人的緣分。有緣相見，「相見」非「再見」，相見已非原來的彼此。因為有緣相見，所以不必眷戀；因為不會再見，所以務必珍惜。珍惜、感謝眼前的緣分是因為不會再見；不必眷戀是因為有緣會相見。如果大家能夠明白，內心便能豁達了！

佛法不在於爭辯道理，而是直指事實。所謂事實，便是眾人共同的現實生活經驗。我們待人處事應依循這個現實來開展，凡事應以對自己有益，且同時能利益周遭之人為準則；所做的事，應以對自己與他人真正有益為方向，而非追求自己或他人的「滿意」。所謂「滿意與不滿意」本身就是現實的一部分，而非道理。唯有看清現實、順應現實，才知道應該如何行動。生活中不應僅僅用「對」或「不對」來劃分，因為「對錯」往往因人而異。許多問題並非單純的「對錯」問題，而在於我們是否考慮到他人的感受。
大家都想自由自在，但是天底下沒有從心所欲這回事，不可能讓人又這樣又那樣的。一個人凡事依著自己的心情，活脫就是一個討厭鬼。人生本來就是許多事，不可能都自己決定，也不可能都別人決定，也不能想都能從心所欲。自不自由只是你的感受而已，佛教講「有緣就要受緣的限制」，緣不同就有不同的限制，這個才叫做「法」。緣有限制這是好事，很多你內心覺得不習慣的事情，其實便是最好的事情。
