國聖燈塔，台灣本島的極西點，佇立於台南七股的頂頭額沙洲。這座燈塔曾在颱風中被摧毀、搬遷，它的命運，正是七股海岸劇烈環境變遷的縮影。
原本沿著堤防的道路，如今被風吹來的沙子完全掩埋，形成一望無際的荒漠地景，讓這裡有了「台版撒哈拉沙漠」之稱。為了保護這片土地，政府在沙洲外側設置了消波塊和離岸堤，但仍無法阻擋大自然的力量。原先寬度約300公尺的頂頭額沙洲，面積已縮小至緊貼堤岸；沙洲南側原本有著一大片的防風林，如今僅存一株木麻黃，成為七股海岸不斷後退消失的「地標」。
