My family started listening to these with the hopes of picking up a few Yiddish words to surprise some elderly family members. We quickly fell in love with Blanche and Rebecca, and finished the entire series. The program is informative, funny, and touching all at the same time, and makes for a light and easy listen. Highly recommend!
Title says it all. The idea and banter is cute and fun however the meaning of the dialogue is not 100% accurate. You get the gist and meanings are loosely correct. For context I’m a 30 yo American woman. I grew up being spoken to in Yiddish. My family speaks Yiddish, myself included. And I took Yiddish in college. That’s all. But like I said a cute and fun listen if you want to “learn” some new words/phrases.
I love listening to Blanche and Rebecca, and learning new yiddish words and the meaningn behind them. The ancestry episode is awesome too!
I tend to listen to a lot of true crime or horror podcasts and this is a breath of fresh air! New episodes always brighten up my day!
Really enjoyed listening to this on my way to work. I would share the words with my coworkers. Really hope you consider producing more episodes.
