王水河（1925–2019）自公學校畢業後便投入看板相關工作，一生橫跨數個臺灣現代視覺文化的重要階段：從二戰前的「昭和摩登（昭和モダン）」、戰後臺灣美術現代化過程中承襲而來的「上海摩登」，到美援與美國流行文化影響下的歐美式摩登。不同時代的視覺語彙彼此交會，也讓王水河的創作呈現出極為多元的面貌。
