出版將近90年後，史坦貝克的「勞工三部曲」第一部《背水一戰》（In Dubious Battle）終於迎來華語圈第一個中譯本。不過讀完小說，眼尖的讀者或許會有點好奇，明明這是一場共產黨組織動員下的罷工故事，怎麼書介文案裡，對「共產黨」三字幾乎隻字未提？其實背後是有原因的，而且「共產黨」元素還差點讓出版社毀約不出版呢！究竟是怎麼一回事？

《查理與我》有長達將近半世紀的時間，都被視為史坦貝克的旅行記實、美國的真實寫照，卻被Bill Steigerwald（姑且稱之比爾先生）踢爆，一切攏是假。今天這集podcast就來為大家揭開這個世紀大騙局！

講到60年代的黑人民權運動，大家比較熟的應該就是馬丁路德金恩博士1963年的演說「我有一個夢」，但是其實還有很多大事，史坦貝克的《查理與我》裡面也有帶到，本集podcast要來更仔細地看看民權運動的三大關鍵行動：打破校園種族隔離、公車罷乘事件和餐廳佔位行動。
