Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Episode 454 - Craig Jamieson’s Pop Rock Fusion Explores Anxiety, Depression, and Hope for Young Listeners
Q: So were you writing it during depression or did you write it afterwards?
No, I didn't write that until much later after overcoming my struggles with depression.
Episode 455 - The Power of Rhythm: Lansdowne’s Role in Mental Health Awareness and Veteran Support
Q: Can you share a defining moment in your life that changed how you approach music or performance?
Over time, I've tried to simplify lyrics, making them more accessible while retaining depth and intensity.
Episode 455 - The Power of Rhythm: Lansdowne’s Role in Mental Health Awareness and Veteran Support
Q: What advice do you have for people who are struggling with mental health?
Lean into the music for catharsis and write out your thoughts without worrying about quality to help process emotions.
Episode 456 - Wilson Hickman directs The Lost Healer, letting music speak louder than dialogue
Q: Which role of those mentioned challenged you the most?
Directing was what I thought would challenge me the most because I hadn't directed anything since I left Arizona. I would say directing was probably the easiest project I've ever directed, just because everyone was so enthusiastic and consistently brought their best efforts to the project.
Episode 456 - Wilson Hickman directs The Lost Healer, letting music speak louder than dialogue
Q: So going from the novelist to directing, how did that storytelling background shape the visual language of The Lost Healer?
When it came to writing my own screenplays, I may have noticed in The Lost Healer, or even if you go back and watch The Bus Station, some of my other projects, they aren't very dialogue heavy, and there's a reason for that. I prefer showing things rather than having dialogue spell out every detail for us.
