  • I can't believe how well written, skillfully performed, and all-around engaging this 1940s period piece is. Between the number of plot threads and the surreal elements, it'll take you a while to figure out everything that's going on...if you ever do.

(One potential difficulty, if you don't tolerate horror well, is gruesome touches in the later episodes. Or maybe you will be so engrossed you'll tolerate them, like listening to "The Horror of Dolores Roach".)

  • Bizarre and fun!

I’d never heard of this one, so when I stumbled across it, I gave it a listen. The audio and creativity really appealed to me, so I’ve been binging! This one takes some time to unfold, so just go with it!

I’m a huge, huge fan of New Weird, and this kind of thing is right up my alley. For anyone who’s considering listening and wants a sense of what to expect stylistically, think David Lynch’s Lost Highway. You have to be willing to put in some work, and if you’re not ready for it, I could easily see it being jarring and confusing. This is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea, but for the most part it was mine.

Why “for the most part”? There were two issues for me that brought my rating down: Fir... more

  • This story is mostly interested in experimental sound design, which it excels at, and this leads to some good creepy horror moments. I didn't vibe with all of it or connect as much as I could have with the characters as they are currently developed. The story is difficult to follow if you're not paying close attention, but not incomprehensible. I enjoyed the acting and dialogue. It hasn't updated since 2018, so what's out feels like the first part of a greater mystery that may not be completed.

  • Oddly engrossing with interesting characters. I really love Walter. Hoping there will eventually be more. Only complaint is the high pitched noises make it hard to listen to.
