There are good gay movies out there, but we won't be talking about them. We're three unqualified nobodies who discuss the very worst that gay cinema has to offer. At We Read Movies, we don't just watch movies, we read them for filth.

This week, we watched the sequel, 20 years in the making, to Q Allen Brocka's film Boy Culture, about a very sex-negative prostitute who bums everyone around him out. After raising money on Kickstarter to produce a star-studded TV series about the co... more
This week, we watched the coming of age teen movie Henry Gamble's Birthday Party, about the most terrible pool party you've ever imagined. Dark secrets about your mom's sex life, casual racism, self-harm, and worst of all a guy playing the guitar. Ca... more
This week, not to spoil things too much, but we watched the actually very fun superhero/spy comedy/thriller Codename: Dynastud. In the distant dystopian future of 2024, being gay is illegal, and only one man can save us, the magical spy codenamed (by... more

This podcast is funnier than it has any right to be. The hosts break down everything about the queer movies that people like to pretend don’t exist. It’s important to remember the existence of even the trashiest films. But also, this podcast is the reason every time someone starts a question with “Does this movie…”, my brain completes it with “…hang dong?”
I love this podcast and have missed y’all. Please keep up the great work .
Knock at the Cabin made me crazy angry and only this podcast could restore my sanity. I came for the validation and stayed for the bewilderment, gay sass, and boner pills.
They don’t talk about bad movies. They rip on whatever happens to catch their attention at the time. I tried listening to a few episodes. They think they are more clever and witty but they sound like that obnoxious table at every gay bar: Listen to us! LISTEN TO US!!!
Go home. You’re drunk.
This show makes me ugly snort. It’s so d*mn funny. The incites have me actually learning things about history, to boot. Thanks team. My only note is it could use more Bea.

Engaging with the underbelly of queer cinema, a trio of hosts humorously critiques some of the worst movies that represent LGBTQ+ narratives. Their discussions reflect a blend of wit and sarcasm, focusing on the poor execution and absurdities within the films. Episodes often feature content that critiques not just the chosen films but also the broader implications of their portrayals of sexuality, relationships, and cultural tropes related to queer identities. With a lighthearted yet critical approach, the podcast invites listeners to join in on the laughable aspects of cinema that tries to reflect their stories, while also confronting deeper societal narratives.
