NPO Radio 1 / VPROWaarom is het verhaal van een fatale vriendschap in de jaren 90. In 1997 besluit de 18-jarige Bjorn om een einde aan zijn leven te maken. Dat doet hij samen met Tom, iemand van wie Bjorn’s vrienden nog nooit hebben gehoord. Eva Moeraert, de voormalige vriendin van Bjorn, gaat op zoek naar antwoorden. Waarom stapten deze twee jongens uit het leven? Waarom had nog niemand ooit gehoord van Tom? Wat voor rol speelde de metal en grunge-muziek waar Bjorn naar luisterde in deze keuze? Bij zoiets heftigs als een zelfdoding wordt achteraf vaak gezwegen, aanvankelijk omdat de pijn en het verdriet te heftig is en daarna omdat zo’n daad zo vreselijk ongemakkelijk en vaak oninvoelbaar is. Achterblijvers blijven met vragen zitten of creëren hun eigen antwoorden, vaak om de pijn en mogelijk schuldgevoel te verlichten. In deze podcast komen al deze aspecten naar boven.
