  • Great w/ a few snags

This podcast provides some wonderful content! The only snag I run into is that some of the videos do not play on my laptop or my phone. Example: VCP-DCV 1&2. I am appreciative of the efforts being made for the benefit and enjoyment of us listeners.

Learning New Skills and Languages in the AI Era
Q: How do you handle the balance between using AI tools and maintaining personal ownership of code when learning?
He emphasizes writing code manually and keeping the human in the loop, using AI to assist but not replace critical thinking, and gradually increasing AI involvement as confidence grows.
Learning New Skills and Languages in the AI Era
Q: For those of us who may be meeting you for the first time, please introduce yourself.
Bob Belderbos introduces himself as a Python developer and coach who is also getting into AI and Rust, with two decades of coding experience and ongoing coaching work.
Agentic AI: In The Real World
Q: Is Kiro the IDE or the LLM or both?
Kiro is the IDE with a command line tool; you can host MCP servers and connect to different LLMs. It allows you to pin or auto-select models and manage token costs by structuring tasks as powers.
Agentic AI: In The Real World
Q: What are your recommendations for first steps for somebody that has a beginner?
Visit kiro.dev, sign up for a free Kiro account to get started with tokens, open the Kiro IDE, watch the quick videos on the Kiro channel, then begin with a spec-driven development session to define what you want to build and how it should work, gradually adding custom powers to optimize token usage.
Trusted Publishing
Q: How does Trusted Publishing change the risk profile for publishing to PyPI?
It replaces long-lived tokens with short-lived, scoped tokens that are tied to specific projects and validated on each publish, dramatically reducing the window for credential theft and misuse.
