  • Letting this one go

I have found that the Enneagram is a key modality that works for me to understand my motivations and work toward overcoming my self-imposed limitations. This is one of the first podcasts I discovered on the topic about four years ago, and I listened regularly, but I’m finding that it is less and less relevant to me. There’s a bit too much hype, positivity and Christian emphasis for my personal taste, and I find that his guests are a bit redundant at times (SO many 3s and 4s) with some sort of bo... more

  • The Holy Spirit is a He.

S8 Episode 51 —claimed that the Holy Spirit is a *she* because the Hebrew word for "spirit" (*ruach*) is feminine. But this is a misunderstanding of **grammatical gender**—a feature of many languages where nouns have genders (masculine, feminine, or neuter), which **doesn’t necessarily reflect actual gender or personhood**. For example: * In Greek, *spirit* (*pneuma*) is **neuter**, not feminine. * The Greek word for *sin* is feminine, but that doesn’t mean sin is a female trait. * The word for ... more

  • One of the best!

This was one of the best shows I’ve heard. I loved the discussion about 12 step program and Christianity. I especially saw Ian‘s suggestion of having Eucharist at an AA meeting was great.

I will be reading Kris Jansen’s book next

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Healing the Success Wound: Enneagram 3, Work Addiction, and the Path to Aligned Ambition with Brooke Taylor
Q: What is the role of spiritual practice in healing the wound, and how do you bring that into the workplace?
Healing the wound requires a God-given or higher-power-guided definition of success and a shift from certainty and control to non-duality and abundance; bringing spiritual principles into the office involves applying practices like meditation, prayer, and mindful reflection in everyday work moments to stay connected to one's true self.
Healing the Success Wound: Enneagram 3, Work Addiction, and the Path to Aligned Ambition with Brooke Taylor
Q: What practical, recovery-based wisdom do you find most useful to share with clients dealing with a success wound?
The key practice is service—being willing to be inconvenienced for others—since service keeps you out of the self-centered fear that fuels the wound and helps build lasting self-worth within a village mindset.
Healing the Success Wound: Enneagram 3, Work Addiction, and the Path to Aligned Ambition with Brooke Taylor
Q: How do you distinguish your true self from the wounded self in daily life, and how do you return home when toggling between them?
There are signs like flow and the ability to handle difficulty from a place of possibility; bodily cues include regulated breathing and a relaxed nervous system when in true self, versus throat gripping and stomach tension when stuck in the wound; with practice, one can choose to stay in the true self and reconnect powerfully with their core values.
Healing the Success Wound: Enneagram 3, Work Addiction, and the Path to Aligned Ambition with Brooke Taylor
Q: Let's start with a two-sentence definition of the 'success wound' as you use it in the book.
The success wound is the pain that comes from mistaking success, productivity and achievement for self-worth, a belief formed in childhood and culture that love, belonging, and safety increase with how much one produces and achieves.
COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS: Negotation Skills and Your Enneagram Type with Attia Qureshi
Q: What is the role of emotions in negotiation, and how do you handle the inner story we tell ourselves in heated moments?
Emotions drive action more than pure logic; you should label those emotions, write them down, say them aloud, and then explore the worst, best, and moderate outcomes to inoculate against fear and move forward.
