彼が挑んだのは、2年に一度開催される超過酷レース「トランスジャパンアルプスレース（TJAR）」。
富山湾から北・中央・南アルプスを越え、太平洋・駿河湾まで――415kmを走り抜ける、究極の山岳レースです。

私たちが開催している Mt.FUJI100 は、「World Trail Majors」全レースの中で女性参加率が最低だ。
きっと、僕らがまだ気づいていない様々な要因があるのでしょう。

第16話の「100マイルレースに出られるのは恵まれている人」という千葉さんの言葉に深く頷きました。
私は数年前までトレランに比較的熱心に取り組んでおり、ITJも2回走った経験があります。次は100k超のレースに…と思っていたのですが、家族のケア（私は男性ですが育児家事に追われる日々です）や仕事の都合で時間が捻出できず諦めざるを得ませんでした。レース当日を空けるのは調整すれば何とかできるとしても、そのために膨大な時間練習を積まなければならず、その時間を捻出するのは現実的に無理（家族に多大な負担を強いる）と判断しました（練習で疲れていると家事育児も満足にできなくなるということも大きいですね）。
今でも100マイルレースにはいつか出てみたいなと思っていますが、いつになるかは正直わからないです。その前に年齢的に厳しくなってしまうかもしれません笑
