Just listened to the Mike McCarthy episode. Like stepping back in time. I have a clear memory of Steve Hegg CRYING in the fanciest hotel in Greenville in 1991…. Pleading with Eddie B (for a contract the subsequent year)…I was super uncomfortable but - like watching a car wreck - I couldn’t look away.
McCarthy bit the lemon and made lemonade.
Best podcast I’ve heard on the era….back when bike racing in the States was vibrant.
What a great podcast. If you’re a cyclist, he’s a knowledgeable and energetic interviewer and has some great guests. I’m a fan.
