Reviews

4.7 out of 5 stars from 140 ratings
  • “Climate Realism” in the same way Jurassic Park was a documentary

Tom Nelson calls himself a “climate realist,” but this show is realism in the same way pro wrestling is journalism. A revolving door of cherry-picked contrarians, half-baked talking points, and smug gotchas like “what’s the ideal temperature for Earth?” Spoiler: it’s not 3°C hotter.

If you like your science with a side of conspiracy and your skepticism untethered from data, this pod’s for you.

Otherwise, maybe try a source that doesn’t confuse YouTube comments with peer review.

  • Explainer for the climate crisis by scientists

Tom Nelson continues to collect climate scientists and others who have spent a lifetime working on the physical science and allows them to share their thoughts and explain using scientific principles climate change what is driving it and what is not.

I have consumed a lot of climate change content and it is so rare to actually have scientists to talk about and explain the underlying processes driving climate change. Compared to most, it is focused on analysis as opposed to activism about a cli... more

Great interview with Dr. Tammy Nemeth! I really enjoyed that discussion -- an interesting perspective. I also liked the presentations from Willie Soon and the Connelly's about the data corruption. Robert Bryce is also a favorite. Keep them coming!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Erich Schaffer: “Water Vapor Feedback, Part Two” | Tom Nelson Pod #406
Q: What is your main critique of the traditional Water Vapor Feedback narrative?
The main critique is that the feedback has been misestimated due to regression issues and proxy misinterpretations; when using appropriate regression techniques and accounting for aspect ratio distortions and shortwave noise, the data indicate a strong negative feedback rather than a positive one.
William van Wijngaarden: “Evidence doesn’t support climate hysteria” | Tom Nelson Pod #403
Q: Okay. Thank you so much for doing that. Is there any work you're doing now in the climate area that you haven't mentioned in this presentation that you want to talk about?
The guest discusses ongoing work focusing on water vapor, including water dimers, and notes that while these factors may influence absorption somewhat, they are not enough to overturn the overall understanding of climate forcing; further, he emphasizes improving observations of clouds and long-term ocean temperature measurements to better constrain models.
Ronald Stein: “California Refinery Crisis” | Tom Nelson Pod #401
Q: What is the main alternative when wind and solar are promoted as replacements for oil and refining?
Wind and solar primarily generate electricity and do not create the fuels or materials needed for aviation, shipping, and heavy industry; without refineries, other energy sources cannot substitute the entire energy supply chain.
Ronald Stein: “California Refinery Crisis” | Tom Nelson Pod #401
Q: What percent is refining down in California from the peak right now?
About 17 percent, and the decline of refineries is tied to policy overregulation and economic pressures, with serious potential consequences for state and national security if capacity continues to erode.
Kevin Mooney: “Climate Pxrn” | Tom Nelson Pod #388
Q: What do you think is the long-term impact of the Paris Agreement on U.S. energy policy?
He believes exiting the Paris Agreement represents a lasting strategic shift toward energy independence and less external control, potentially reshaping future regulatory frameworks.
