  • “Climate Realism” in the same way Jurassic Park was a documentary

Tom Nelson calls himself a “climate realist,” but this show is realism in the same way pro wrestling is journalism. A revolving door of cherry-picked contrarians, half-baked talking points, and smug gotchas like “what’s the ideal temperature for Earth?” Spoiler: it’s not 3°C hotter.

If you like your science with a side of conspiracy and your skepticism untethered from data, this pod’s for you.

Otherwise, maybe try a source that doesn’t confuse YouTube comments with peer review.

  • Explainer for the climate crisis by scientists

Tom Nelson continues to collect climate scientists and others who have spent a lifetime working on the physical science and allows them to share their thoughts and explain using scientific principles climate change what is driving it and what is not.

I have consumed a lot of climate change content and it is so rare to actually have scientists to talk about and explain the underlying processes driving climate change. Compared to most, it is focused on analysis as opposed to activism about a cli... more

Great interview with Dr. Tammy Nemeth! I really enjoyed that discussion -- an interesting perspective. I also liked the presentations from Willie Soon and the Connelly's about the data corruption. Robert Bryce is also a favorite. Keep them coming!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Kevin Mooney: “Climate Pxrn” | Tom Nelson Pod #388
Q: What do you think is the long-term impact of the Paris Agreement on U.S. energy policy?
He believes exiting the Paris Agreement represents a lasting strategic shift toward energy independence and less external control, potentially reshaping future regulatory frameworks.
Kevin Mooney: “Climate Pxrn” | Tom Nelson Pod #388
Q: You've written about the drowning polar bear propaganda and its impact. What evidence supports your view that this narrative was misleading?
The polar bear population is actually increasing overall, and the specific image of polar bears universally drowning on melting ice has not occurred in nature; Mooney argues the animation in An Inconvenient Truth violated standards and misrepresented reality.
Julian Morris | Tom Nelson Pod #386
Q: What role do institutions and markets play in decarbonization?
The discussion suggests that stronger property rights, free trade, and market-based innovation promote efficiency and lower emissions per unit of GDP, implying a potential path to decoupling emissions from growth.
Julian Morris | Tom Nelson Pod #386
Q: What explains the observed rise in natural disasters if mortality is falling?
Morris argues that population growth, density, better reporting, and enhanced emergency response contribute to higher reported disaster counts, while advancements in agriculture, infrastructure, and adaptation reduce fatalities.
Julian Morris | Tom Nelson Pod #386
Q: Is the world warming, and are humans driving it?
The host presents a plausible link between greenhouse gas concentrations and warming but emphasizes that the relationship is not definitive and that multiple factors exist; Morris frames it as a plausible case built on radiative-forcing and observed correlations.
