Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

John Hartenfeld’s Cold Case and His Son’s Long Search for Truth
Q: What recent development gives you hope about solving the case?
The cold case unit reaching out about remains found in the area and the possibility of dental records comparison—plus the potential for direct collaboration with law enforcement to advance the search.
John Hartenfeld’s Cold Case and His Son’s Long Search for Truth
Q: What has been the most challenging part of keeping the search active over the years?
Balancing emotional moments with the practical needs of an ongoing investigation, dealing with limited evidence, and navigating the police process while trying to keep public interest and new information flowing through the project.
John Hartenfeld’s Cold Case and His Son’s Long Search for Truth
Q: What led you to start mylittlecoldcase and focus on your dad's story in particular?
I wanted to channel the personal memory into a productive project that could draw attention to cold cases, create a structured six-episode arc, and offer a relatable path for other families dealing with unresolved investigations.
Grandpa Guy Monroe Pyke Just Simple Disappeared. Why?
Q: How did the dementia theory come to be publicized, and how did your family react to it?
The family was upset because there was no official diagnosis of dementia, and the initial media narrative overstated dementia; corrections were made years later to acknowledge possible signs but not a confirmed diagnosis.
Grandpa Guy Monroe Pyke Just Simple Disappeared. Why?
Q: What do you think happened to Guy Pyke, given what you've shared about the river and water surrounding the area?
Jennifer believes strongly that Guy ended up in the water with his vehicle, given the lack of vehicle traces elsewhere and the surrounding environment making a land-based disappearance less likely.
