Man, some of the stuff in that episode is information. You will never hear. The level of detail on elk diet, vision, and shot selection/placement was absurdly good. Bravo

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

School of September with Matt Hartsky
Q: What is the number one mistake archery elk hunters make?
Not understanding elk behavior; without this foundation you won't know where to start with terrain and e-scouting, leading to repeated struggles.
School of September with Matt Hartsky
Q: What is your overarching elk-hunting approach in September?
Adapt based on area and elk behavior; combine e-scouting, terrain knowledge, wind management, and a willingness to move quickly to close the distance when the moment is right.
School of September with Matt Hartsky
Q: How do you locate elk when you hit a new country or area?
Focus on pressure and access first to identify more remote elk habitat, then confirm bedding, feeding, and transition zones with boots on the ground, adjusting based on wind and time of year.
Ep. 255 | How Do We Save Hunting with Dan Pickar
Q: How can hunters effectively counter emotionally driven anti-hunting messaging?
We need articulate spokespersons and emotionally honest storytelling that highlights the ethics, heritage, and practical science of wildlife management, potentially supported by a coordinated council and targeted ads to reach non-hunters.
Ep. 255 | How Do We Save Hunting with Dan Pickar
Q: What do you say to people who tell us to avoid politics on a hunting show?
Wildlife management is inherently political because laws, funding, and public perception shape what we can hunt and how we protect ecosystems; ignoring that reality only weakens our ability to defend hunting.
