Ben Challoner & Adam Torel

A celebration of all things Third Window Films from the perspective of the fan (Ben) and the man (Adam Torel). The Third Window Films brand was born in 2005 when its film-loving founders grew bored of the stream of worn-out shock horror vehicles from the Far East. Third Window Films works hard to bring you the wonderful world beyond long-haired ghost films and mindless Hollywood action copies, sou... more

  • The Best!!!

I really love the passion and knowledge on display here. I still can’t get over the fact that one of my favourite boutique labels is a one-man show, and the man himself still have time to grace us with all that knowledge on a semi-regular basis on this podcast. Highly recommended for any fans of East-Asian film (mainly Japanese), and to anyone that still buys physical media (you should btw).

  • Thoroughly enjoyable podcast

Love the banter between Adam and Ben!

Feel one gets a great inside knowledge of the movies they review. How they are found, researched, produced. Super interesting background info on the actors, making of the films, topics; how they are received by audiences not only in Japan but globally. The obstacles that are overcome (or not) in obtaining the rights to re-release the films and how much is actually involved in getting them out to the public.

Fab interviews with film critics and some producer... more

  • Japanese Films

If you’re a fan of Japan and a fan of Film, this is pretty much the ideal podcast for you.

I first came across Third Window Films through the Asian Film Club Meetup group in London years ago alongside Joey from Terracotta.

You can imagine my joy at discovering that Adam from Third Window Films co-hosts this show.

One of my favourite episodes features Adam & Joey talking about the process of creating a film distribution company.

  • Love this show.

I never thought I’d have a sensation like finding a new band you love as a teenager. Third Window Films gives me that same exhilarating feeling of discovery with every new hidden gem they release. I never tire of hearing about the stuff that happens behind the scenes. I only wish there were more.

There is so little information on a lot of these Filmmakers accessible in the west it’s a joy to hear anyone talk about them. Somai please!

  • Great

Very informative podcast for fans of Japanese/East Asian cinema and blu rays with nice awkwardness & humor between the two hosts. I don’t live in the UK or have a region free player; otherwise, I would buy the whole Third Window catalog!
