  • Wonderful insights

I have only recently listened to one episode. The ketamine therapy insight was what brought me here to listen. I am possibly going to have a session with a therapist under a safe medically appropriate place and I am seeking information on how’s and why’s this treatment might be recommended. I found most of my questions answered and am listening to more episodes seeking a better understanding on the after sessions and potentially a documentation process that I might following my potential session... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

SSRI Tapering and Psychedelic Readiness - Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring
Q: What does hyperbolic tapering mean in practical terms for patients?
Hyperbolic tapering describes slowing reductions more aggressively at lower doses to account for receptor disengagement; at higher doses you can reduce more, but as you approach the end, reductions become smaller and slower to minimize withdrawal.
SSRI Tapering and Psychedelic Readiness - Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring
Q: How do you distinguish withdrawal from relapse in patients coming off antidepressants?
Withdrawal presents with a cluster of new symptoms that arise after dose reductions, often within weeks, and the time course differs from true relapse; if symptoms map back to the pre-medication state, relapse may be suspected, but withdrawal often resolves as tapering continues or with supportive measures.
SSRI Tapering and Psychedelic Readiness - Dr. Josef Witt-Doerring
Q: What did you see from the inside of the FDA about the evidence supporting long-term antidepressant use?
The evidence base for long-term antidepressant use is surprisingly sparse; most studies are short (often 12 weeks), and there is little data beyond a year, making it hard to know long-term outcomes and risks.
Iboga Initiation and the Wisdom of Discomfort - Paije Alexandra West
Q: So what is initiation when it comes to Iboga, and why go through it more than once?
Initiation is a powerful portal that tests and reveals one's physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual limits; going through it multiple times with different Bwiti lineages deepens understanding and broadens capacity to support others, with each initiation offering distinct experiences and lessons.
Healing the Need to Prove: Psychedelics and Enoughness - Blake Mycoskie
Q: What motivated your shift toward psychedelic research funding and mental-health advocacy?
Blake details his belief in the potential of psychedelics to treat depression and PTSD, the $100 million pledge, and the aim to ensure safe access, integration, and scientific study.
