Iđź’• this podcast. There is so much information packed in each short episode. On a few occasions I've had to pull over to take notes. The banter between Dale and Tyson is great. Each ads their own perspective and I like how Tyson asks Dale questions to keep the conversation moving. Thanks for a great pod! Can't wait for the next episode!

Episode 64: Semen | Dog Relocation | AKC Dog Show Tips
Q: Can a pro handler affect the judge's decision, and how should a breeder gauge this?
A pro handler can influence presentation and pacing in the ring, but judges primarily evaluate the dog; a seasoned handler may highlight a dog's strengths and mask minor faults, though genuine quality often shines regardless of the handler's status.
Episode 64: Semen | Dog Relocation | AKC Dog Show Tips
Q: What factors are important when relocating with dogs, and how do you plan a kennel move?
Key factors include breed needs, facility requirements, climate, local regulations, zoning, and timing; planning ahead for temporary housing, backup plans, and ensuring kennels are suitable for the dogs' health and safety during the move.
Episode 64: Semen | Dog Relocation | AKC Dog Show Tips
Q: What is your approach to using fresh vs frozen semen, and when would you choose each method?
Fresh semen is often used for immediate, live inseminations when the bitch is ready and when the breeder has good support and skill in insemination; frozen semen is typically reserved for surgical or TCI procedures or when extending a line over time, with consideration for storage viability and cost.
Episode 63: Unwritten Dog Show Rules | How to Present Rare Breeds | Answering Listener Questions
Q: Sandra asks for the ideal indoor temperature for Chen-related brachycephalic breeds.
Aim for the low 70s Fahrenheit for brachycephalic dogs; watch for panting and shedding signs of being too warm, and avoid letting dogs overheat in cars or unventilated spaces, especially during hot days at shows.
Episode 63: Unwritten Dog Show Rules | How to Present Rare Breeds | Answering Listener Questions
Q: Claudette asks how breeders know when the confirmation show window has closed.
If a dog has not secured two majors by a certain age or after a long showing window in a competitive area, it may be time to move toward breeding; the decision should consider the dog's show record, the availability of majors in the breed, and whether breeding could benefit the program.
