Iđź’• this podcast. There is so much information packed in each short episode. On a few occasions I've had to pull over to take notes. The banter between Dale and Tyson is great. Each ads their own perspective and I like how Tyson asks Dale questions to keep the conversation moving. Thanks for a great pod! Can't wait for the next episode!

Episode 23: Grooming with Matt Hoagland
Q: As a breeder or owner of a dog, how do you decide on a handler if you want to special a dog? Can the handler tell you no to your dog?
Choose a handler who has breed-specific expertise, a track record in your region, and a compatible philosophy about the dog's care; ensure clear expectations, contracts, and shared values before handing over your dog.
Episode 21: Imprinting Puppies (Getting them ready for success)
Q: What is the best approach to imprinting for temperament across different breeds?
Start early with exposure to sounds, handling, and various surfaces, and tailor imprinting to the dog's intended future role, whether as a show dog or a family pet, while maintaining a consistent routine and socialization plan.
Episode 27: Choosing Keeper Puppies, Dog Training Advice, Essentials to Send Home With New Puppies
Q: How do you go about choosing keeper puppies, and how often do you reevaluate your choices?
Start by identifying what you want the dog to accomplish (show ring suitability, rears, fronts, markings) and then create a clear wish list; cut the rest and invest time in the top picks, reassessing through show age and beyond, with potential reevaluation if the dog reaches show age but may not perform as hoped.

Q: Being an AKC judge, is it okay to ask a judge after a show why they didn't pick your dog?
Yes, you can ask after the end of a set when there is a moment to speak with the judge, and frame the question as what can be improved rather than criticizing the winner.
