It’s no secret to anyone who knows me that Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday. And the most enduring Thanksgiving Day memory I have began when I was fifteen, and, well…it’s a story that honestly may never end.

As a kid I fell in love with short stories in large part from hearing old radio theatre-style recordings that often played on the radio throughout October leading up to Halloween. I especially loved Ray Bradbury’s “The Martian Chronicles”. So much ... more
Acting is very much like playing poker. If you intend to play, if you hope towin, you need to play your hand well, and, frankly, you need to risk.Yet, far too many talent kill a perfectly wonderful opportunities to createby second-guessing what littl... more
Listen to Actors’ SOUND ADVICE co-founders, coaches, and seasoned voiceover demo producers, Kate McClanaghan and Jeff Finney discuss one of the most elusive and sought-after performance styles in the voiceover business.
As actors we’re generally expected to be versatile enough to play everything. Or at least that’s the general consensus regarding acting as a profession, and not simply from actors and their coaches. Of course, precious few rise to the occasion for th... more
The latest episode really has me disappointed. It was supposed to be about how the voice over industry has changed since COVID, but it turned out to just be a very thinly-veiled sales pitch for their company’s services. While I understand using a podcast as a way to promote your business, the goal is to provide true value to your listeners and then associate the good will from providing that value with your business… Not writing a list of how the biz has changed, in which 95% of the changes ar... more
This is a superb source for all-too-rare common sense from a real pro in the voiceover business. McClanaghan applies the wisdom gained from her many successes, AND some painful lessons learned, from a truly epic voiceover career. Jeff Finney, whose background seems to include more of the technical end, also throws his expertise into the mix. This podcast ranges from quick tips on making a performance come alive, to the complex and rapidly-changing business of being a voice performer. My only qu... more
These are some of the most helpful podcasts for Voice Over I've found... so many of the podcasts introduce great topics, but they don't usually demonstrate the problem or demonstrate the improvement. So, give an example of muscle memory recordings followed by a more agile audition. Just my 2 cents.
Amazingly good and offers real world, practical tips. VO includes such a wide range of specialities. You may enjoy some episodes more than others.
The Pat Fraley episode is pure gold.
Your interview with Fraley was excellent and he’s a great teacher and friend. You do a great job with your podcast.
There's no mystery when I listen to Kate's podcast. She's a knowledgeable, helpful, veteran professional and brings that level of insight to every podcast she hosts. I listen because it's a good use of my time and I always learn. Can't beat that.
