As a self professed sci fi geek I find this really enjoyable. I can’t wait to see where you take this. I think that perhaps doing either deep dives into particular sci fi series might be a good idea - but then they generally will have similar concepts so perhaps picking one concept and comparing and contrasting each franchises approach could also be enjoyable.
