One of the Most Unlikely Conversions to Judaism Ever
Q: Can you outline the timeline from meeting to conversion and how the kids were involved in that decision?
We started exploring Judaism in 2018, moved through intensive study with a sponsoring rabbi, and began the formal Beit Din process in 2021. Our two oldest children were part of the journey from the start, and the Beit Din required that all our kids be on board for the conversion to proceed, which they were. The process lasted two and a half years, culminating in our conversion in 2023 and ultimately leading to aliyah in 2024.
Israeli Mom of 5 Became Israel’s Marathon Champion: Beatie Deutsch Story
Q: Did Shabbat restrictions ever limit you in pursuing Olympic dreams?
She discusses prioritizing faith, viewing Shabbat as a larger mission, and choosing to compete within her values while still aiming high.
Israeli Mom of 5 Became Israel’s Marathon Champion: Beatie Deutsch Story
Q: When did running become a real possibility for you?
She explains starting to train seriously after her fourth child was born, using a four-month plan, and gradually building toward Tel Aviv 2016.
Faith from the Battlefield: Eyal Zakai
Q: How does he balance religious study, military duty, and pursuing music after combat?
He describes returning to Yeshiva after combat, continuing to study Torah, and using the four-day home stints to work on music and plan tours, with faith as a daily anchor.
Faith from the Battlefield: Eyal Zakai
Q: What was it like entering Gaza and living under those conditions, and how did it affect his faith and music?
Gaza presented continuous waves of stress, not a Hollywood-style battle, with 30 men living together, limited contact with home, and moments that strengthened faith and creativity, such as discovering a guitar and writing music that honored fallen friends.
