Q: And just the mechanics of these different projects, has it been a case of the catchment management authority helping fund fencing and you doing the work or have they also added tube stock and you've had direct seeding projects that have been very successful as well?
Hamish explained that funding for fencing and tube stock has been provided by the CMA, and his contribution has always been in the form of labor to complete many kilometers of fencing.

While currently managing 10% of the farm as native areas, John believes they can improve further and acknowledges the ongoing need for sustainable practices.

Q: How has that worked? What have you planted and what difference have you seen?
They started planting corridors of vegetation, which allowed wildlife, such as the Rufous bristlebird, to navigate previously open areas, thus leading to a significant increase in biodiversity.
