  • Love!

Editing my previous review below down as they have gone back to Aussie only pod and stopped speaking about NSL and NZ leagues :( I thought it would be covered in the 2nd ep per week

Such a great podcast! I’m a UK listener and we are missing a good netball podcast since Quarter Time stopped so I’m super happy you have introduced a little bit of NSL discussion this season! Obviously love all the SSN chat too!

  • Best friends?

Love this podcast and the level of netball insight is unmatched. I especially enjoy the detailed game analysis each week.

The one thing that irks me is the continued use of first names (only) for players as if the hosts are talking about a group of girlfriends playing in a local league. Could we at least get first AND last names as a sign of respect for these incredible athletes?

Otherwise, love your work and will keep listening every week.

Talking Points

Jessie Grenvold bolts into the Diamonds squad
Q: What role did coaching and environment play in your development toward becoming a Diamonds player?
Coaches Richo and Jez created a balance between high performance and sustainable growth, emphasizing process, consistency, and leveraging each player's unique strengths.
Jessie Grenvold bolts into the Diamonds squad
Q: What was it like to receive the call about making the Diamond Squad, and how did you process it given the secrecy around announcements?
It was a storm of disbelief and excitement; I had to keep it quiet for weeks, then realized it was a genuine selection and not just an invite, which made it even more surreal.
Jessie Grenvold bolts into the Diamonds squad
Q: How do you reflect on the journey from training partner to a full-time contract in such a short time?
I view it as a stepping-stone process where every year built on the last, with continual development, support from coaches, and the courage to take opportunities when they arose.
Will Karla Pretorius play at the Commonwealth Games?
Q: Are we hoping she might go to Commonwealth Games?
The discussion suggested that while there is hope for Pretorius to be selected, the decision is complex, balancing her experience with the direction of the Proteas and the need to grow younger players for the long term.
Paige Hadley returns 10 weeks after giving birth
Q: Did you expect to be back so quickly, around Mother's Day, or was it a coincidence?
There were many conversations and milestones; the schedule was flexible and patient-centered, with minutes limited initially and a plan to build back gradually as health and team needs allowed.
