Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

71. Mastering Toddler Tantrums ft. Dr. Ishinna B. Sadana
Q: What should parents do the first time they see their child having a tantrum?
Parents should pause, validate their own feelings first, and try to manage their reaction before addressing the child's needs.
71. Mastering Toddler Tantrums ft. Dr. Ishinna B. Sadana
Q: What is a tantrum?
A tantrum is when children express their emotions like helplessness, frustration, or anger due to their inability to articulate their feelings.
72. Newborn Breastfeeding Guide: First Feed, Latch, Milk Supply, Pumping
Q: How would you differentiate between a true low supply and just a perceived low supply?
True low supply could happen if the baby is sick and not sucking effectively, whereas perceived low supply often comes from topping up or stress.
72. Newborn Breastfeeding Guide: First Feed, Latch, Milk Supply, Pumping
Q: What is the right time to introduce a bottle to a baby if parents want to do combination feeding?
The best time to introduce the bottle is ideally after 3 to 4 weeks after the baby is born, when breastfeeding is established.
70. Sleep Training vs Gentle Sleep — Which Is Right for Your Baby?
Q: So I think again, this all goes back to every parent's goal and every parent's preference. So is following a gentle sleep approach eventually going to have to make you do sleep training in the end?
If a family's goal is for the child to be able to sleep through the night, then sleep training is a better approach, while gentle sleep may lead to reduced night wakings but not eliminate them entirely.
