A gold standard of hobby podcasting, this has been a great show for getting into Battletech and learning about the hobby. Episodes are paced well, and it’s easy to jump around and “research” topics or just listen in sequence. The hosts all seem like great people that you would want to game with.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ep 102: A New Era of BattleTech
Q: In the first section listed simply as general, you mentioned that front-loaded initiative is now going to become standard. Could you walk us through why this change was chosen and what the main options were considered?
The team evaluated multiple approaches to front-loaded initiative and settled on a model that balances play speed with tactical depth. It wasn't about forcing a single method but offering a system that players can learn quickly while still delivering meaningful decisions during moves and combat. The chosen approach was supported by testing and community feedback to ensure it remains intuitive without sacrificing strategic nuance.
Ep 99: Conventional Infantry
Q: So, I've thought a lot about this like a lot, because they are so central to Battletech's roots. Should we change our games?
Yes, I think we need to change the rules to be standardized across all infantry units to make them easier to use.
