I really liked the episode with Jasmine San Andres, the Spanish Teacher trying to keep Spanish alive at home and raising bilingual children. As a Latina adult who still struggles with fluency, the nuances between culture and assimilation really hit home. Favorite episode so far!

  • sharing our culture

Much like Janny when my babies were born the one thing we had very clear is that they would be raised bilingual and we would make the effort to always share my Mexican culture and traditions. But how.... Yeah some things are obvious ie eating mexican or talk to them about the different holidays. But still needed more to really get that visual for them, Janny’s recommendations and ideas are creative, easy and a great way to share our culture.

  • Reality Bilingual Parenting

Finally a mama who gets it! Who talks about how important nuestra cultura is, hence, how important español is. How it’s hard. Really hard. And the reality is that English is such a dominant language and we work around that. We figure it out. And I absolutely love how she includes her daughter and their book review. It was adorable and a transparent look at how this mama is raising a bilingual child. Give this podcast a listen! You will not regret it!
