  • Boring with just Larry

I’ve been a longtime listener of WMAL and I loved the old format where Larry always had a guest host. The banter made it so entertaining! I especially miss Bethany and Patrice. Now that it’s just Larry, it’s SO boring and monotonous. I find myself looking for other shows to listen to in the morning. Bring back the Company of O’Connor and Company.

  • Disappointing

I really enjoyed when he had guest hosts. The light hearted banter and different opinions were nice. Now that it is just Larry it’s getting a little boring and monotonous. Why call it “O’Connor & Company” if it’s only him?

Capt. Chuck Nash on the 'Easter Miracle' Rescue in Iran
Q: What does the modern rescue equipment and doctrine look like compared to the past?
Modern systems like C-cell beacons and integrated GPS enable rapid location and coordination, while images of past rescues informed the current emphasis on precision, stealth, and rapid, decisive action by Tier One forces.
Capt. Chuck Nash on the 'Easter Miracle' Rescue in Iran
Q: Can you shed light on the training that the downed pilot and his wingman would undergo, and how often such training occurs?
Training like Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape is intense and prolonged, designed to test hunger, cold, and stress, with a POW phase to simulate capture and resilience; it's a regular part of maintaining readiness for such incidents.
Capt. Chuck Nash on the 'Easter Miracle' Rescue in Iran
Q: Why did we expend so many resources to rescue one pilot and his teammate?
The guest explains it as a moral obligation and a doctrine of mutual support; if we embark on dangerous missions, we must have the back of every aircrew member, including sacrificing resources to ensure their safety and return.
John Lott on Ending Gun-Free Zones on Military Bases
Q: Where did this idea come from that soldiers on base should not carry firearms?
The idea originated in part from a belief that military life should resemble normal civilian business operations, as voiced by leaders like George H. W. Bush, and was formalized in the Clinton era, though the policy has faced significant criticism for compromising on on-base safety.
