This podcast should be part of the school curriculum in South Africa! It goes a long way to explain how we end up in the political, social-economic turmoil we find ourselves in, in 2023. It lays out how we have come to accept corruption and violence as part of the fabric of South Africa. Cry our beloved country!

I listened to The Highwaymen hoping for some cold hard facts but all I got were rumours and accusations. I really enjoyed the format and the series was clearly well researched and executed which made my disappointment at the lack of actual damning evidence all the more deeper. I’m a Daily Maverick subscriber so I’m the perfect target listener but I’m not interested in aspersions - feels like a missed opportunity for the nail in the coffin of these obviously compromised characters.
