Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

MCP Ep. 120: 2025 in Review
Q: What surprised you the most about MCP in 2025?
The biggest surprise was the core rule changes at Mini-Stravaganza and AMG's commitment to live-service updates, including annual crisis rotations and frequent character updates, which kept the game dynamic and consistently evolving.
MCP Ep. 119: AMG Interview with Will Shick and Ben Ransom
Q: Ben, can you walk us through the math and reasoning behind stamina increases and how they fit into the game's current speed and lethality?
The stamina changes are about creating a threshold that makes three- and four-threat characters use power more effectively, reducing the chance of being one-shot, and enabling bigger, more exciting plays. The goal is to maintain a balanced curve where lower-tier characters can still be competitive through player skill and strategy.
MCP Ep. 122: Mono vs Multi Affiliated Rosters
Q: From a competitive standpoint, does it get exhausting seeing or using affiliation minimum plus same meta pieces so often?
It can feel redundant, but Marvel's balance, close bell curve, and offer of viable splashes means you can still win with a broad pool of models, so long as you manage your list's holes effectively.
Ep. 127: Sooner is S Tier
Q: Question 2: Do you think Defenders are cancer, or can the list be healthy once you remove portals from the equation?
Defenders aren't inherently cancer; removing portals makes the list much more balanced and viable, while keeping in mind that the overall tier depends on how well the player uses crisis selection and positioning.
Ep. 127: Sooner is S Tier
Q: Question 1: Sooner, you played Kingpin in all of your Cuts matches. Was that a causation or correlation that you leaned into Kingpin in Defenders as your primary splashed list?
It was a causation; facing Soul Strange and Blue Marvel repeatedly forced me to adopt Kingpin as the core strategy to spread power, maximize scoring, and exploit Kingpin's efficiency on the fast crisis play style.
