  • Too many contradictions

    Great podcast.

It would be better if you edited out Rick’s inflated ego monologues; which do seem strange with ‘Rick’ being married to and having a daughter that practice Psychoanalysis; lovely irony that I learnt that from this podcast. The contradiction.

Are you not trying to inspire the working people and they don’t need to hear how you are ‘so much smarter and have achieved so much more them’. Is name ‘dropping’ a contradiction in our tradition?

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

No Risk, No Return: Capital VS Labor
Q: How did this discipline that was supposed to improve human lives come to be that we said that the risk to assets is more valuable than the risk to human life?
It happened due to the hierarchical organization of capitalist enterprises, where the few at the top are considered uniquely important, leading to the belief that their risk taking is more significant than that of workers.
No Risk, No Return: Capital VS Labor
Q: How do Marxists react to this particular claim?
Marxists find it absurd that the risk theory is used to justify profit, arguing that all participants in the economy take risks, but only workers lack recognition and compensation for it.
Marx: the Business Analyst
Q: How do you develop the motivation for teaching the turnover rate?
Marx argues that profit comes from production, not merely from exchange, and understanding turnover is crucial to grasp this.
Marx: the Business Analyst
Q: Would it be accurate to say that all the processes other than production time do not add new value to the existing capital?
Yes, the productive worker produces surplus while unproductive laborers enable that process but do not add new value.
Marx: the Business Analyst
Q: What is this idea of circulation time that he's beginning to play with in Volume 2?
It connects the production and distribution of surplus with the passage of time that affects business decisions.
