S6E15: Echoes of Belief
Q: What advice do you have for converts who feel pressured about their practices and their role in the community?
Your actions speak louder. Follow the teachings of Islam and be a kind, dutiful child. Over time, your parents will see positive changes in you and will likely accept you as you are.
S6E15: Echoes of Belief
Q: What advice do you have for people who have such thoughts about incurring the wrath of Allah for not being able to pray or wear hijab at home?
Refer back to the time of the Prophet, peace be upon him, when converts were secretive about their faith. Don't think Allah will not forgive you for difficulties. Remember, Allah is most Merciful and understands your situation.
S6E12: Cultural Bridges
Q: Is there a key takeaway for future reverts who are maybe going to marry or going to be a mother?
You have to be rooted and grounded in your belief to not be swayed by external pressures.
S6E13: Islamic Perspectives on Motherhood
Q: Ustazah, do you have any words of encouragement for converts who are getting married, or possibly having a child very, very soon?
Always make sure that your grounding in the religion is good. Your understanding of what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is saying is also essential.
S6E12: Cultural Bridges
Q: Did you have like a support system or was there any form of reminder?
Yes, I have a village; my husband's family is very supportive.
