  • fun!

The episode 'Let’s Read Inappropriate Nursery Rhymes' was such a fun listen and a great reminder that kids’ stories have always had a weird and mischievous side. Some of those nursery rhymes were so bizarre and ridiculous that I couldn’t stop laughing, and the historical background made it even more interesting. I really enjoyed listening to this one all the way through.

He outlines four leads—Rick (the former knight), Hendel (half-elf), Stefan (archmage), and Callista (cleric)—each with distinct traits, ethics, and arcs, contributing to a dynamic team that can appeal to a broad audience.
216 – Vengeance and Honour by Ben Dixon
Q: How did you approach writing magic and keeping it balanced for the story and characters?
Dixon describes how Stefan's powers are powerful but not overpowering, with growth through mistakes and restricted by in-world rules, ensuring magic serves character development rather than driving the plot unilaterally.
216 – Vengeance and Honour by Ben Dixon
Q: What made you pick fantasy, sword and sorcery, after writing teen humor, and have you been into this genre for a long time?
Dixon explains that after finishing the Neil Peel books he wanted to explore a new genre, inspired by his love of tabletop and interactive media like Choose Your Own Adventure, and that he sought a personal, original story rather than imitate others. He stresses independent publishing gave him the freedom to write exactly what he wanted.

Q: Did you see Fantastic Four? Are you going to see it when it comes out on streaming? What did you think of the family dynamics?
The host reflected on her thoughts about the family dynamics and asked listeners for their opinions, especially if they have experienced relatable moments as parents.
