I look forward to each edition of The Checkout. Host Simon Rentner always has an interesting guess with some great music. My favorite part of the show is that the musical guests do not meet some narrow definition of jazz. I am not interested in if it is or is not jazz, but I am interested in the musicians thoughts on composition and to the new music which I otherwise may not be exposed. Thank you Mr. Rentner and WBGO!
If you don't just want to visit music form the past, and you love jazz (however it's defined) then this is the best podcast for you. Stay up to date with what's going on and enjoy the professional, passionate and informed work of SImon Rentner and his team. This is my must-listen podcast.
Excellent podcast with a wide ranging focus on jazz music. Doesn’t focus on only one area but takes a very welcome broad view. Lots of interesting guests and discussions and great music as well.
An entire other world of jazz has been illuminated. Amazing show! Keep up the good work and especially thanks for supporting the jazz community fund raising the way you do. A lot of musicians and artists will benefit from your efforts.
This delivers on all accounts. Beautiful music that never fails to peak my interest, open my way of thinking, and inspires me to explore new cultures through genuine artistry.
Thank you Simon, WBGO, and all the guests of the show
