  • Hits The Spot

As an old ONM reader, the tone and vibe of Sam and Matthew scratches the itch I’ve not been able to satisfy for a while. Been listening for a few months now and always looking forward to the next episode even if it’s about something I’m not entirely familiar with; the hosts always manage to make it engaging and enjoyable. Once I can spare some pennies for the Patreon I will.

  • The Best Gaming Content Around (and Games Court)

I jest, I love Games Court! I love all of it. I even took my partner to Sandwich Sandwich when they opened in London based purely on Matthew’s recommendation. I must’ve listened to every episode at least 3 times and plan to carry on re-dipping into the backlist indefinitely.

If you’re a retro or modern gaming fan, get yourself on Patreon and sign-up to the XL feed - you won’t regret it as this is, indeed, the very best gaming content around.

  • Funniest gaming podcast

Very entertaining and funny games podcast covering current games, Best Of formats and utter (fun) nonsense. Sam and Matthew are a great duo that bounce off each other well and are very informed. They also have good guest interviews from time to time. Start off with the Best Of lists and then go off into uncharted territory for some great takes and laughs. My favourite gaming podcast and one of the few podcasts that makes me laugh out loud.

Nintendo Switch 2 Games – Played!
Q: How does the new stand seem?
No, all the ones I used were quite locked in.
Nintendo Switch 2 Games – Played!
Q: Do you think the Switch 2 will get an achievement system system-wide?
There's no in-built achievement system. I think if there's going to be anything, it will be like the Zelda. Donkey Kong seemed to have some kind of trackers in it.
Mailbag
Q: What would be the worst game character to be locked down with?
Dellen from Shenmue 2, as he would just be endlessly repetitive.
Mailbag
Q: If you were on the ITV show Dinner Date, what would your three-course meal be?
For starters, a burrata; for the main, a lasagna; and for dessert, a pre-made ice cream.
Mailbag
Q: Can you think of any game reviews you've read and disagreed with, but still think an excellent piece of games criticism?
I once disagreed with a review of immortality but loved the way it was explained in an Edge review.
