Martin makes the surprisingly persuasive case for building a tunnel to the Isle of Wight. And we speak to Ed Jennings, founder and editor of Kent Current about the maddening story of how NIMBY concerns killed a significant battery storage facility, a... more
Martin tells us the jaw-dropping story of a bridge built for HS2 which is even more egregious than the infamous bat tunnel. This is seriously not to be missed. James explains how a clever new database could make driving much less annoying. And we spe... more

The central theme is that humans - in particular those who live in Britain - need to have abundant clean energy with affordable housing and excellent public transport in order to make the best of their lives.
Oh, and save the planet as a bonus.
Really great podcast that takes you through the insanity of current planning laws in the UK that are hindering growth and development, from bat tunnels, to NIMBY local councillors imposing ridiculous restrictions on access roads, to councils refusing to engage in fixing a private road that featured in the local plans. Absolute must listen to understand why many think Britain is broken planning wise, but also how to fix it.
My new favourite podcast - topics judged perfectly, interviewees chosen well and great level of detail on everything discussed. A must listen!
So wonderful to hear a conversation that deals with the technical limits of LLMs while acknowledging how useful they can be. A relief after listening to lots of polarised coverage that doesn’t dig into the nuance. Thank you!
James & Martin are always very good value, here focused on an important agenda, providing challenge, detail and humour that makes you think. With good quests and useful links, this is strongly recommended. Does need a bit more PAF though …
