  • Great content, mediocre audio

I love this Podcast. It really helps me think about how to be a better CS practitioner and leader. My one wish is that the host would either put on a headset or move to a room with carpet. His portion of the audio is very echoey and sort to of distracting.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

128. SIGNAL Over Noise: AI, Convergence, and the End of Siloed Service
Q: Tell us how you got the CSMs to trust and adopt the model during the transition from existing processes.
Adoption came fastest through peer-led efforts, focusing on AI jams and prompts that directly helped people prepare for QBRs and calls; top performers gained value quickly when the AI provided concrete, usable outputs tied to their daily outcomes.
128. SIGNAL Over Noise: AI, Convergence, and the End of Siloed Service
Q: How long did it take to tune the model and get it to reliably guide CSMs, given the data deluge?
The first version was out in about a week, but tuning to identify the right signals and achieving reliable guidance took over a quarter, with the initial model stabilizing in a few days but refinement continuing for weeks and months.
128. SIGNAL Over Noise: AI, Convergence, and the End of Siloed Service
Q: When AI first became a thing at LeanData, what were some of the first operational problems in services you realized AI could really make a difference?
The initial breakthrough was reducing signal-to-noise inside the customer lifecycle by consolidating 40-plus indicators from product usage, support, NPS, and more into a coherent set of actions for CSms, with AI gradually moving from classification to practical guidance and a 360-degree customer view.
129. The AI Bill Is Coming Due: Making Enterprise AI Profitable
Q: How should companies price and manage AI initiatives to ensure ROI?
Move away from user-based pricing to consumption-based or capacity-based pricing, use real-time FinOps to measure spend against value, and perform upfront business-value assessments to anchor ROI and reduce waste.
129. The AI Bill Is Coming Due: Making Enterprise AI Profitable
Q: What are you actually seeing in the wild right now with AI costs?
There are big, hidden costs across GPUs, tokens, and data layers that aren't tracked by a single metric; executives are blindsided because the bill shows up in many places rather than one obvious place.
