Listening to the research about how the brain acquired language lightens me load! I stopped having students “repeat after me” the second I heard it does nothing for acquisition. The boot strap episode is one of my favorites because it explained a lot to me.
This Could be a helpful pod cast IF they would just get to the point earlier. The first 15 -20 minutes are a waste of time. Seeing as one cannot fast-forward a podcast, you are held prisoner with meaningless chatter that seems to be aimed at setting a jovial tone, but if you are a teacher, you don't have time for 20 minutes of tone setting. Painful.
Had high hopes but I have been listening over 30 minutes and have learned nothing about the topic. A big waste of time. Lots of silly banter, not much info.
I'm going into my first year teaching Spanish, but as I took my methods course in college and finished my student teaching practicums, I found BVP and co. to be an invaluable resource. The lighthearted and upbeat treatment of an incredibly delicate and complicated matter really helped and continues to help me bridge the gap between theory and practice!
