Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Tech, townships and tenacity: Spar’s plan to win with Spar2U
Q: Is AI playing a role at all in Spar's strategy, and what will it enable going forward?
AI is a core, ongoing element in forecasting, merchandise planning, and now search and shopping assistance within the app. We're leveraging a headless commerce stack for flexibility, with plans to integrate Spar2U and other banners into one cohesive app, and to use AI to improve basket-building and recommendations.
Tech, townships and tenacity: Spar’s plan to win with Spar2U
Q: How are you going to convince customers to try Spar2U and to stick with it?
We use several levers: encouraging switches from entrenched competitors by highlighting our value proposition and promotions, and focusing on local store strength and personalized promotions. The aim is to deliver a compelling mix of price, convenience, and a strong local connection that makes Spar2U a preferred choice and drives repeat use.
Tech, townships and tenacity: Spar’s plan to win with Spar2U
Q: Tell us a bit about where you are in this on-delivery game as a group and what your plans are.
We started late compared to Shoprite's Sixty60, but Spar's independent store model means we focus on a unique, fit-for-purpose approach. Each Spar or Top store is owned by an independent entrepreneur, so our plans center on strengthening each local store's role, expanding Spar2U with store-specific catalogs and pricing, and leveraging partnerships for last-mile delivery.
The story behind Nedbank’s R1.65-billion iKhokha deal
Q: Tell us how this Nedbank deal happened.
The deal materialized after a long period of relationship-building with Nedbank, where iCocker had already been using Nedbank's services for payment processing and transactional banking. A convergence of visions and strong cultural fit led Nedbank to acquire 100% of the business, with the leadership team remaining on to ensure a smooth transition and continued growth.
TCS | South Africa’s Sociable wants to make social media social again
Q: Finally, is there room for more social or community apps in South Africa, and how do you see the space growing in the next five years?
There's always space for unique approaches if they respect rights and intentions, with emphasis on growing through authentic engagement rather than quick, corner-cutting growth; the market will evolve with a focus on meaningful community-building.
