  • Reading on podcast

It’s so monotonous and flat. There is no emotion, free flow of thought. It’s really hard to listen. Even if the content is good

  • Challenging to follow at times but also invaluable

I enjoy listening to most of the podcasts. Most are very unique and deal with specific aspects of psychoanalysis. Above all, I think it is absolutely invaluable hearing from professionals from all over the world. It is extremely interesting being exposed to culture and societies and other analysts not from my own place of practice. Thank you.

  • Another great initiative from the IPA

Together with “Psychoanalysis On and Off the Couch”, the IPA and especially those spearheading these two podcasts have been doing an admirable job and have filled the gap in providing the public with much needed information and introductions to the clinicians and practitioners invited. This podcast and “Off the Couch” are truly valuable resources for anyone interested in psychoanalysis and what it contributes to our understanding of ourselves and each other.

Transience and the prohibition of “Don’t Look” - Osamu Kitayama
Q: How does historical myth inform clinical understanding of transience and mourning?
Myth provides a framework to name and explore deep affects surrounding loss, showing how cultures encode responses to impermanence which therapists can reflect back to patients to facilitate mourning, resilience, and new growth without pathologizing the natural process.
